“You ready? I have gold teeth, I have braids, I’m wearing Rick Owen’s moon boots, I have rips in my denim, a biker vest, I love artsy girls, my favourite artists are Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon. I’m obsessed with being different.” – ASAP Rocky
The day after pay day, I decided to go for a nice girly day with one of my oldest friends. I got off the train, my phone starts to ring. “Kim I need your help!” She went searching for a pair of Valentino trainers because she wanted to try them on. She had fell in love and wanted the voice of reason which was me. Now don’t get me wrong these trainers were amazing but because I love getting discounts on clothing, the bargain hunter within me told her to sleep on the idea of spending £525 on the beautiful khaki green studded Valentino trainers. That day, shockingly I wasn’t in the mood for shopping, I just wanted to see my lovely friend and go for lunch and have a giggle…..She had other ideas in mind. I met her in Selfridges Birmingham and walked around. We arrived at the Missguided section. In the far distance perched up on the wall. Catching the light perfectly. Was the most amazing studded biker jacket. It didn’t matter what I was doing in that moment, it was like an involuntary reaction, I started to walk to it. I still find it so amusing how people just get so excited over fashion, we just can’t help it. In my mind I was trying to be a good girl and save money that month. I put it on. Now it was so weird, it was like I got dressed that morning with that jacket in mind, the outfit I had on made it so much harder to resist temptation, it reminded me of a studded jacket that was sold in ZARA, but I never got the chance to purchase it (sad sad story). I turned to my friend and just gave her a look, her reply “I LOVE IT”. She told me to get it. I asked one of the lovely misguided assistants for the price. £75! Now £75 isn’t a lot but when you’re used to getting 50% off at River Island anything above £50 just makes me feel bit sick hahaha. I toyed with the idea of getting it. I thought no, I told my own friend to stay away from the trainers of her dreams so I’m going to stay away from my jacket of dreams. Later that evening after having probably the nicest lunch at BANK Birmingham, I got home and started to look for the jacket on the Missguided website. That day I remember being at lunch looking for discount codes for my friend. Missguided had a 40% off selected items, however it would have a banner underneath the item show you if it was part of the promotion. The jacket didn’t but I decided to put the code in anyway. I wasn’t going to lose anything if it didn’t work. Bam the new price appeared. £45! I was actually so elated, I thought for once just waiting has actually worked in my favour and saved me £30. I clicked standard delivery, 3-5 working days. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better. My jacket was on my back the very next day. Moral of the story. Wait. Check for discount codes.
P.S. I know I’ve been slacking on my blog. I promise that now there will be lots more in future and much more frequent…..
